Gracita Meets with National Alliance—Preparations for Parliamentary Elections Heating Up.

E-mail Print PDF

gracita19082009Philipsburg:--- Members of the National Alliance met with former island council lady Gracita Arrindell on Monday as they try to negotiate what position the National Alliance would give Arrindell should she merge the People Progressive Party with the National Alliance.

Arrindell held meetings with Independent Island Council man Theo Heyliger who plans to launch the Green Party for country election. SMN News understands that the new kid on the block would not be contesting the January parliamentary elections and the meetings with Arrindell did not bear fruit.

Sources say Arrindell has also met with the Democratic Party and that she has a deal with them. Asked about that at the DP press conference leader of the party Sarah Wescot Williams did not indicate if a deal was reached with Arrindell. However, she confirmed they have been speaking with a number of persons within the community.

This is such a disappointment for me. After the long wait, I finally thought I found a true leader. Only to hear she could be joining with these corrupted politicians. Who can we trust? Gracita, you lost 1 vote.

Gracita, be patient. Pass up this ridiculous federal election... it can do nothing for you. ... Let the NA and DP waste money and contest this election. Save your money and your pride for country elections next summer....I agree with "Dissapointed" - if you join with DP .. you have lost my vote.

The heading of this article still has me baffled. Is this journalism or sensationalism. Over the past weeks,Gracita has met with Sarah Wescott Williams, Theo Heiliger and William Marlin. For some unknown reason there are journalist throwing sprats to catch whale, accorning to the old people. PPA has not made any agreement to merge with any political party. We are prepared to sit and discuss the future of this country in a responsible manner with all concerned and if after careful consideration we will decide if an alliance can be formed with people who we clearly believe has St. Maarten's best interest at heart. We believe St. Maarten should remain a top priority to any politician seeking the voters trust. The PPA is not interested in vague promises and pie in the sky dreams. Our Young people need hope, jobs and a sound educational policy as we approach country status, which we must say has not been an achievement that any of the current political leaders can boast of. We as a Party, will continue to dream of a better St. Maarten for it's people and their offspring. When your dream becomes your purpose, you are absolutely unstoppable. We urge all those who have placed their confidence in the PPA leadership to continue doing so. She was right on many issues and she will be right again once she makes her next decision. Support a leader with 20-20 vision. Continue supporting Gracita Arrinindell, she is a woman with vision and character.
