Police Busy Investigating Double Homicide. (UPDATED)

deadmanincar09122012Philipsburg:--- The detective department on St. Maarten is busy investigating the brutal murders of two men from the Dominican Republic who reside on the French side of the island. The men whose identities have not yet been released were killed early Sunday morning at the Francis Bar located on A.T. Illidge Road.

According to information provided to SMN News, the men began fighting over a woman at the Sun Latino Bar on A.T. Illidge Road then shortly after the fight became violent and two men were shot next to Francis Bar. One of the men died on the spot while the other man succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center. The shooters managed to escape the scene in an almost new grey Hyundai Sonata bearing French number plates, the vehicle was later found on the French side of the island.

Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte confirmed that a team of detectives are working feverishly to find the killers of the two Dominicano men. De Witte said the brutal slayings took place around 5am Sunday morning. The top cop also confirmed that the vehicle the suspects used to escape across the border was found on the French side of the island.
