One of Two Shooting Victims Identified --- Second Victim will be Identified at Autopsy.

murderfillin13082012Philipsburg:--- One of the two murder victims that were killed early Sunday morning has been identified. Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos identified the victim as Miquel Angel Torres Cleman (22). Mos said that the second victim will be identified when the autopsy is conducted later this week. The two men were murdered next to Francis Bar around 5am Sunday morning after a brawl which apparently started over a woman at the Sun Latino Bar. One of the victims was shot in an almost new Hyundai Sonata bearing French number plates. SMN News learnt that the victims are both residents on the French side of the island. On Sunday, Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte said the killers escaped to the French side of the island and the get-away car was found somewhere on the French side on Sunday.

In a press release Acting Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson said that on Sunday December 9th, 2012 at approximately 5:00am police patrols and detectives were directed to the A.T. Illidge road in the vicinity of "Francis Bar" for a shooting incident where two persons had been shot. On the scene the investigating officers learnt that the shooting took place shortly after a fight between two groups of men that were at a nightclub in the area. According to information which reached the officers on the scene, the men were having problems with each other for some time. During the fight the situation got really out of hand at which time several shots were fired. As a result of this shooting two men lost their lives. The victims have been identified as A.M.W. (25) born on the French side and M.A.T.C. from the Dominican Republic (22). After the shootings the suspects jumped into a white Toyota Corolla with license plate 5886 AAA and fled the scene. This vehicle was recovered later on the French side with the cooperation of the French authorities and it was handed over to the Detective Department for further investigation. The investigation into this case is in its preliminary stages and the police department is putting the pieces together to determine exactly what happened and why.
