Guyanese National in Custody for Theft at Bobby’s Marina.

Philipsburg:--- A Guyanese national identified as Nandrai Avinash Singh is now in police custody as he is accused of stealing tools from Bobby's Marina Boatyard on Thursday. Robert Velasquez told SMN News that Singh was working for him in the boatyard for quite some years now. The businessman said it's been some time now that they have been missing tools from the boatyard and while they suspected two of the workers they had no solid proof until last Thursday. Velasquez said that on Thursday he and two of his managers caught Singh red-handed when he tried to remove a bag that had a number of tools belonging to the boatyard. "I personally screamed out at Singh when I saw him putting the bag over a fence. When Singh realized that I saw he began running and two of my managers Eric Koning (Yard Manager) and Frans Niewenhoven (General Manager) started to run behind Singh so that they could have stopped him." Velasquez said at some point Singh got into a car and he tried to run over Eric Knoning. "I fired Singh on the spot because everything is on tape which was turned over to the police on Thursday, the police visited my business place shortly after the incident and viewed the tape."

The businessman is more upset because he assisted Singh when he was locked up by police when his seven year old son shot his baby daughter with a flare gun and killed her two years ago. "I paid the lawyer's fee and assisted Singh's wife when they were having problems after the death of his daughter and he chose to repay me by stealing all my tools which he is working with in Anguilla after hours. Recently, Singh has been reporting sick almost two days a week because he is going over to Anguilla to work." The businessman further explained that another employee whom he fired about two weeks ago is also involved in stealing from his business place.

SMN News learnt that Singh was arrested on Tuesday when he went to the police station to file report against his employers.

Prosecutor Dounia Benammar confirmed that suspect was arrested on Tuesday on the suspicion of theft.
