Prime Minister Wescot-Williams Congratulates Musical Stalwart Maxime Reid on 92nd Birthday.

Reid and band Tanny and the Boys have "influenced the musical landscape of St. Maarten"

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams congratulated St. Maarten Musical Visionary Maxime Emeal Reid, well known as a band member of the popular local band Tanny and the Boys. "I would like to especially congratulate Maxime on his ninety second birthday. I especially enjoyed Mr. Reid's performance during the St. Maarten's Day celebration where he played with Tanny and the Boys. Mr. Reid's contribution to keeping music and our traditional culture alive is so important to the community. The theme for this St. Maarten's Day Celebration was 'Back in the Day' and to see traditional music being played by one of our elders, enthralling both young and old alike is testament to his influence on the musical landscape of St. Maarten,' commented the PM.

From the age of 15 Maxime Reid discovered his love of the Guitar and of Music and could be found entertaining the neighborhood during the Holidays. In 1971 he joined Tanny and The Boys and has brought traditional St. Maarten Folk Music to the world. Tanny and the Boys have played for official functions such as the Queen's Birthday, Government Receptions and on many occasions for the visit of the Royal Family.

"Once again a very happy birthday and may God grant you the strength to continue to inspire this country with your music," concluded the Prime Minister.
