Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise Charity Flea Market A Huge Success.

rotarysxmsunrisecharityfleamarket21112013PHILIPSBURG:--- A Charity Flea Market organized by the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise was a big success. The Charity Flea Market was held on Saturday November 16 on the premises of Air Lekkerbek in Philipsburg.
Sellers paid $20 for a stand to sell their wares, and merchandise varied from second hand clothes and home wares, to handmade crafts and plants. The money paid by stand holders was divided between the Charity End Polio Now and several projects for the youth and senior citizens.
Stand holders were entitled to keep their own profits, but some chose to donate their takings to the charities. The concept worked very well, and both sellers and buyers were very happy. Many buyers came away with real bargains.
Adding to the excitement was the Diabetes Foundation of St. Maarten, which was present with a number of volunteers who conducted health checks for free. During these health checks, weight and height were measured, and blood was tested for blood sugars and cholesterol.
A deejay added to the ambiance, and many parents purchased home-made snacks whilst their children played games or jumped on a bouncy castle.
A special thanks to the Rema, Shop for Less, Victors Cosmetic Store and the many community partners who donated items to make this event a success.
End Polio Now is a Rotary International initiative, and the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise commits itself annually to fundraise for this charity, which has an aim to eradicate polio worldwide.
The Rotary Club of St Maarten Sunrise meets at Air Lekkerbek Restaurant every Tuesday morning at 7:00am for fellowship and breakfast.
