Minister Lake impressed with collaboration between SSM and Cay Hill Community Council and plans in the works.

mauricelakemeetswithssm25112013PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake on Monday afternoon met with representatives of the Soualiga Social Movement (SSM) and a representative of the Cay Hill Community Council, and was very impressed with the collaboration between the two and the plans they have developed for the community.

The purpose of the meeting was for SSM to give the Minister an update with respect to the organizations past and current community oriented activities.

At the same time the two organizations are seeking the Minister's support for their projects and finding out what may be the possibilities of working along with the Waste to Energy project.

Minister Maurice Lake told both organization reps present that he fully supports what they are trying to do and commends them for the good work that they are doing.

The Minister informed the two groups about the process regarding the Waste to Energy Plant and further explained that he wasn't able to go into too much detail since the bidding process is underway.

Minister Lake promised to meet with both groups once the bidding process had been concluded with the selection of a company that would execute the project.

SSM plans to assist in helping create employment and other social beneficial activities for the youth. The Cay Hill Community Council was approached and brought onboard based on the districts youth seeking assistance and advice from SSM.

The joint collaboration should lead to the initiation of pilot projects that would create employment and therefore fight poverty overall.

Minister Lake also informed the representatives about plans for the upgrading and beautification of Cay Hill as well as a location for a Community Center and Basketball Court.
