CAY HILL:--- A prison guard is now a patient at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) after he was attacked on Tuesday by a prisoner at the Pointe Blanche House of Detention. According to information reaching SMN News, the prison guard was threatened a number of times by a prisoner, but on Tuesday that prisoner acted on the threats when he attacked the prison guard and broke his jaw. Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson confirmed to SMN News on Tuesday that he was informed of the incident by Prisoner Director Edward Rohan. Up to press time it was not known if the prison guard filed official charges against the prisoner. Press Prosecutor Tineke Kamps said she was not aware of the incident when she was contacted by SMN News on Tuesday evening.
