PHILIPSBURG:----The board of the Soualiga Soccer Association is extremely proud to announce that on Saturday, May 16th 2015, the Soualiga Soccer Association was accepted as full member of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association, during its General Membership Meeting.
The FC Soualiga Women's Soccer Team was founded in April 2013, under the St. Maarten Soccer Educational Foundation. As of the 27th of August 2014, the FC Soualiga Women's Soccer team has been officially established as the Soualiga Soccer Association (SSA), one of the many great accomplishments the team has thus far achieved. Other proud achievements are hosting numerous events such as its annual Business Soccer Tournament, its annual Summer Soccer Clinic, its annual International Women's Soccer Tournament, as well as participating in other regional International Women's Soccer Tournaments hosted by other countries and friendlies with other regional teams. The team has also played friendly matches with male soccer and futsal teams and has also been invited to host soccer clinics and exhibition games on multiple occasions. On separate occasions team members have been invited to participate in International Championships and try-outs for championships, representing their home countries.
Becoming an official member of the national governing body of soccer on Sint Maarten will further help the Soualiga Soccer Association to reach the goals they have been working towards to for the past 2 years, which are putting female soccer on the map and further improve the sport for all locally.
The Board of the Soualiga Soccer Association would hereby like to congratulate Mr. Johnny Singh as new elected president of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association. We wish him and his team much success with the task they have been given and we are very much looking forward to work together to reach our mutual goals.
