Police Officers receives promotions

policepromotion31052015PHILIPSBURG:--- On Friday May 29th 2015 during a well attended ceremony at the Philipsburg Police Station in the presence of the Chief Commissioner Peter de Witte and Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John after quite some delay the Inspectors Carlyle Rogers, Head of the Simpson Bay district and Ricardo Henson Head of the Public Relation and Communication Department received their promotions in the rank of Chief Inspector. Major Hensley Roumou who is a team leader at the Simpson Bay Police Station also was promoted to the rank of Inspector. During short speech by the police chief and the acting chief they expressed their sincere congratulations to all three officers and encouraged them to continue with the good work they are doing and to continue helping to build a better Sint Maarten Police Force, a "Five Star Police Force" that the community of Sint Maarten deserves.
molendijk31052005Also during the same ceremony the "farewell" of Major Ferdinand Molendijk, who is a colleague from the Netherlands and presently working at the Police Traffic was announced. Major Molendijk has been working with the KPSM for approximately 3 and half years and has been very instrumental in the investigations many serious traffic accidents on the island. Major Molendijk who has a very vast experience in all type of traffic investigations has in the meanwhile given two fellow officers, an advanced training in these types of investigations and in this manner brought the traffic department to a higher level. The Police Chief thanked Major Molendijk for his great contribution to the police force and whished him much success when he reaches back to the Netherlands.

Five persons arrested during the weekend.
The Police Department this weekend has arrested five persons, two for violating the identification laws, resulting in one of these suspects having a warrant for his arrest and three for ill-treatment. One of the ill treatment cases is regarding two young ladies who had hot cooking thrown on them by the suspect. All cases are being investigated by the detective department.
