Tzu Chi volunteers spread cheer to St. Martin’s Home seniors.

tzuchiseniors02112015PHILIPSBURG:--- St. Maarten Tzu Chi volunteers continued their tradition caring for the elderly in the community with their regular monthly visit to the St. Martin’s Home on Sunday, October 26.
Four enthusiastic volunteers visited the home to spend some quality time with the elderly clients in the Home as well as to treat them to some “tender loving care.” As with previous visits, the volunteers gave clients what the foundation refers to as its special “royal treatment” comprising of shoulder, hand and foot massages, changing of nail polish of the women and engaging in conversation with the seniors.

The Foundation realises that for many of these elderly clients, being in a Home away from their respective family and friends may not be very easy. The Foundation hopes that its regular monthly visits help to make clients feel a bit better by providing good company and quality time.

Tzu Chi Commissioner Sandra Cheung said the Foundation and its volunteers are more than happy to dedicate a portion of their Sunday once per month for this worthwhile activity.

She thanked the volunteers for giving up part of their Sunday to dedicate to the country’s senior citizens, who have already given of themselves as well as thanked the St. Martin’s Home for accommodating the Foundation for so many years and the clients for being the most gracious hosts one can have.
