Taxi Driver Arrested in Armed Robbery Investigation --- Implicated in the Robbery of Oro Diamante that claimed the life of Bike Patrol Gamali Benjamin. (UPDATED)

arrestedfillin26092014PHILIPSBURG:--- A taxi driver identified as Odsman Cannegieter aka Mandola, driver of taxi 375 was arrested on Monday at the Maho Taxi stand where he operates. According to information reaching SMN News Mandola and at least two other suspects were arrested as suspects in armed robberies that were committed at jewelry stores. One of the armed robberies the taxi driver is allegedly involved in is the broad daylight robbery of Oro Diamante that claimed the life of Police bike patrol Gamali Benjamin. Press Prosecutor Karola Van Nie confirmed the arrest of the taxi driver whom she said was arrested in armed robbery investigation. Van Nie said later today the Prosecutor’s Office will release more information on the ongoing investigation. 

Police arrest another suspect in ongoing investigation.

Police arrested another suspect in connection with the ongoing criminal investigation case called “Menam”. The “Menam” case is the daylight armed robbery at Oro Diamante on Front Street where officer Gamali “Benji” Benjamin was shot and died two days after from the wounds he sustained. The arrest took place on Monday November 9th in the Maho area without incident. The 34 year old male suspect with initials O.A.C. was arrested for aiding in the planned robbery. The suspect remains in custody for questioning and further investigation. His detention has also been extended with eight days as the investigation continues.
