Great Bay (DCOMM):--- The Civil Registry Department says that it's able to issue Identification Cards (ID) once again.

Those requiring ID cards can visit the office during regular office hours.

The department will announce when it will be resuming the issuance of driver's licenses.

With respect to the issuance of passports, due to unforeseen circumstances affecting the hardware that supports the operations of the department's passport system, the office is unable to issue passport services at this point in time.

The department is awaiting the delivery of replacement material and the public will be informed when this service is available again.

The management of the Civil Registry Department apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause.

it is commendable that the civil registry issues this press release. there are however people who are in need of the renewal of their pa**ports for some weeks now. as a country it is an insult that we do not have a contingency in place to ensure the continuity of such an important service. business people who depend on travel to provide for themselves, their employees and families are being affected. and such the reason as given is not acceptable. as a country this shows that we lack planning. other such examples can be given with the road repairs currently taking place. the intention here is not to to bash our leadership but simply to point out how their actions affect the general public.

If this complaint did not surface yesterday, would the civil registry have made it public? How unproffessional is this? well in my view i'm embara**ed that a new country would run out of such important service to the public. We are far from ready being a country, it has gone from bad to worse. The public has not only been complaining about this issue now, they can't get an ID or drivers license especially if they go to the census with a BTA permit. What is wrnng with the permit that the census refuse to take it? and how can they? what authority does the census have to neglect a permit if the immigration dept says that the document is good?, and why hasn't this problem been resolved as yet? why is it that the public suffers because the big girls and boys who run this country refuse to come together for the betterment of the people who reside her? They tell you justice is responsible, justice says census is responsible, who the hell is responsible should remember that they are affecting the daily lives of the people. When i think about the situation, who is the census office to tell justice that their permits are no good? Look Sarah and Duncan, and that civil servant lady who thinks she ownes the census office, white girl and L. marlin, please sit together and solve the pride problem you all seem to have and work for the people to be able to move on with their lives.

Ask Leopold James for one of his engenius (or was it indigenous?) SXM ID cards.
Or you can carry around a bit of paper with a big W on it. Call it your Waiting Documents! Kinda like BTA papers, but free!

Makes me wonder what will be next? A W pa**port? A W GEBE bill? A W diploma from Rhonda?
