Philipsburg:--- On Wednesday February 16th starting at 09:00 am, the police department held an intense traffic control on the Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard (road to Point Blanche) between Sang Supermarket and the entrance to the A.C. Wathey Cruise Facilities. This control was held in connection with the six cruise ships in port Wednesday and mainly to combat the illegal transportation of persons to and from this area. The control had a positive effect. The Gypsy's were unable to operate in that area Wednesday because of the police presence. During this control two gypsy drivers were detained, several cars and scooters were towed and several fines were given.

Strange people live in sxm. We talks bd bout the police don't work. Now that they re working now nobody want to comment on this website. Good men and women in blue. Lately you have been doing really good job. Keep it up. Now I hope the taxi driver the real one would now give the service that is needed for our guest and visitor to Sint Maarten.

Compliments to our law enforcements. The safety of the visitors to our island are priority and the name of the island for its safety measures to visitors. It is time to stop letting persons believe there are no laws on the island. If needs be confiscate their vehicles.

Keep up the good work, dear wo/men in blue. Make sure you do a spot check every now and then or those gypsies will go back to their old ways. Don't let them see a pattern or else they will know when to expect you. Make sure you dish out some heavy fines. Throw everything in the book at them. That's the only way they will learn, when they feel it deep in their pockets.

As the official Gypsy Taxi a**ociation Public Relations Officer (PRO). I would like to say that those two gypsy taxi drivers are registered with the a**ociation and as such we will be fighting this. The gypsy taxi drivers on this island will continue to provide reliable affordable transportation to the people of St. Maarten/ St. Martin.

Taxi services all over the world provide transport for transient guests and visitors to their country, and to the LOCALS residing in their respective countries- except in country St.Martin. In the latter taxi drivers focus only on the tourists,- and its only in St. Martin you could see and hear taxi drivers walking behind visitors while shouting "TAXI!..." while in other countries its the client that shouts TAXI when in need of one.

And, the bus drivers focus only on pa**engers standing anywhere at the side of the main roads, while very often seniors, workers running late, pregnant women, women with small kids need off tran"Infront of my door pick-up and drop-[/b[b]]transport service".

This is were the GYPSIES fulfill the need of the people neglected by the legal public transport. ;-) :P

Some of these so called Gypsy drivers come to SXM and disrupt the flow of traffic. They stop anywhere and anytime. Middle region is full of them and don't tell me the busses don't pa** in that area. Do like the French side and confiscate the car and if they are illegal, throw them in jail. I'm so sick and tired of this lawlessness in St.Maarten. I'm going to start writting down Plate numbers and forwarding to the police and prosecutor. This has to stop.
Members of Parliament starting working for your salary and pa** a law, which is up to date and takes our present situation into consideration. Good job Policemen on your efforts to curtail this nonscence.

agree with what has been said so far, however there are other issues that have to be address as well. the wreckless way those people that transport visitors as well as locals over our not too smooth roads, the way all of them hog the roads taking away the right of way of othere drivers (puuting not only their pa**engers in harms way, but themselves as well), not using the designated areas fo them to take on and let off pa**ingers, amd mow the "gypsies" have started the same trend. Listen ... i know that you make you living on the roads, but there are other people that have to use the road as ell to be able to pay their renta swll. this is another area our servants in blue can bring mucho dinero into our koffers. :D ;-)
