stolen07022010DUTCH QUARTER: --- Police managed to recover eight stolen vehicles in the bushes at Zorg en Rust Union Farm on Saturday afternoon reported police spokesman Ricardo Henson. Henson said the police patrol recovered the vehicles that were hidden in the bushes, but in close proximity of the homes in that area. Henson said all of the vehicles were reported missing
Two of these vehicles, one Infinity Q45 and a Suzuki Baleno, were set on fire as a result of which both cars were totally destroyed. The 2008 Infinity Q45 at the time it was stolen and burnt, had a value of approximately U.S. $ 45.000, while the Suzuki Baleno had a value of approximately U.S. $ 6000.
stol07022010The other cars were one Kia Rio, One Kia Picanto, One Kia Mini van, One white Suzuki Vitara, One Daihatsu Charade and one Samsung 3M.
The police spokesman said it is very unlikely that no one did not see when the two vehicles were burnt and no one he said called police to notify them.
It is very unfortunate that no one called the police when they saw fire and smoke in the bushes. All vehicles were towed away and the investigation to determine who the person or persons are that are responsible for this criminal act. The police Department are asking any one who may have information that could shed some light on this investigation to call in and give that information using the Tip-line 9300 or the Detective department at 54-22222 ext. 222/224.
stolcar07022010In addition to this case, while the police officers were on the scene of this investigation, several verbal threats towards police came from within the crowd on the Union farm side that had gathered to see what was going on. However at the time it could not be determined who these persons were that made these verbal threats. The police department is hereby sending out a very stern message to those persons making these threats, that the police department does not take these type statements lightly and will maintain its "Zero Tolerance" policy with regards to any type of threats or negative behavior towards the police.

Is this what we really want? My God, when is it going to stop? Sxm people (and I do not mean only sxm born people) are becoming wild animals. They, for some reason, prefer to fight the police rather than to assist them or take shame in the fact that they are covering up for criminals.

I am so disgusted but refuse to leave my homeland for the sake of a bunch of wild beasts. I will cooperate with the police whenever I can to get rid of ...... whatever you may call them ....... from this Island I once knew to be the "Friendly Island". This is what many people want and then to leave when they have destroyed our image, our very existence. They cannot do this in their country, they are treated like the animals they are and gunned down if needed.

They come here and create a viscous image of our beautiful Island and in the process have destroyed any morals and values we had as "indigenous" sxm'rs. Many are now Dutch and therefore are considered as sxm'rs but deep down in their hearts they are not. Dutch Quarter has very few "true sxm'rs" living there anymore.
Most, descent, sxm'rs or foreigners turn down the cheapest rental houses or apartments once it is situated in D.Q. Hardly anyone in their right minds want to live in that district anymore.

D.Q, Middle Region, St. Peters, Down Town backstreet (Philipsburg), Cape Bay and now even parts of Cay hill are nothing more than "crime infested slumps", Ghetto areas. Look at "who are" the largest numbers of residents residing in those areas.

This is the lifestyle our youth are now exposed to ....Bash the Law, protect the criminal. Our forefathers are surely rooting up in their graves. I never, ever dreamed that this once serene, wonderful Island could turn into this type of nightmare.

Talk about a banana republic. We allow backyard people to come here with their norms and values. This may be abnormal for us but it is perfectly normal where most of these folks come from.

so where in the story did they mention that it was or was not done by a non-local? I read " All vehicles were towed away and the investigation to determine who the person or persons are that are responsible for this criminal act."
so again i say, where did they indicate the person was a foreigner or if a local? i guess we should let the police do their job.

Why are you people cursing the police when you should putting a chain around the necks of your ill mannered uneducated children that are standing on the corners preying on innocent people? Police should stop all cars with young people in them most are up to no good. The girls act like honey bees, they call the hoodlum bums (boys/animals) on their cell phones to come and harrass decent people in neighbor hoods that these bums do not belong. Parents if you cannot handel your animals or are afraid of them get rid of them. You know how to bring them and I know you sure know how to rid of them. I know many of you parents are praying for somebody to get rid of these animals ( pretending to be children or are they children showing off to be animals). Nobody really want to hurt these kids but if they continue and make the community afraid of them well............. Have you seen a cornered animal............! Just food for thought! smilies/angry.gif

No foreigner bashing

@ stopassuming.
Please don't make this a "foreigner bashing" issue. There are many "decent" law abiding foreigners (Dutch or not) living here. However, there are also way too many "low class" crime loving foreigners living here also. Where did the word "Babylon" (as in a curse word for police) originate from? Not from SXM and not from the U.S.A.

We and our children and those of foreigners did not learn to curse the police and protect criminals from our old heads. They would have whipped them good if caught doing wrong. Now they are exposed to all sorts of influences from all around. People who came here to make a "better life" but forgetting to leave their "ill" manners at home or refusing to fit in to a "then" decent life style. Sxm'rs were considered to be stupid, too peace loving and too law abiding by many who came here. Now look at the results. Our children refuse to be sissies and prefer to follow the bad man ways and not our stupid, peace loving ways.

There are many foreigners who have tried to uplift themselves when they came here and they too are disgusted by what is happening. It is not only foreigners committing crimes but a lot of crime is influenced by what children learn from people coming here, telling them how stupid they are and from the almighty television. That is why many cultures try to keep others out. Can I blame them when I see what is happening now in SXM?

So please do a reality check and stop trying to change the topic. It is not about "foreigner bashing", it is about facts.

Solution: A VISA is required for entry to "Country" St. Maarten for nationals of Jamaica and Guyana. Eventually add more nations to that list, like the Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Colombia etc.

The Police are joking. Believe me they are not serious about ending crime and catching criminals.
I have been calling for years to the Police to collect vehicles dumped in Union Farm. Sometimes they come after I have used my phone 4 or 5 times.
I wrote in the papers asking for lights , they put in a few but none where the stolen cars are dumped.
I called about a drug house and stolen vehicles and the 9300 number is a recording and when you call the 542-2222 number the number of questions they ask you is like you are the criminal. So let them stop cursing the residents and get their act together.

yuup its sad when 45.000 goes up in smoke and no one taught about reporting it....we should fingerprint every one coming in...fake id's exist and more so from problematic islands...and those with no papers should be treated like criminals (i know they are not all criminals) but none the less you know you came in illegally from that point on you dt deserv the benefits of being a citizen, you deserv to be treated like a criminal, trown in detention with mug shots and fingerprints....brooks towers is done..why am i still seein a bunch of jamaicans with no job just lingering there..and having a bad influence on our youth (thats the situation by my neigborhood)...block the roads for a week day and night and while you at it systematically check for guns for me please!

i must agree with la Rue i to called the police because some punks were stoning a neighbour house and they nerver came they said she should be safe in her house.these litle punks are robing and stealing and when you report them they stone your house and the police never come to assist the inocent home owner in union farm.is like we have to defend our self and when we do so the police will tel you that you are taking the law in your own hands.the police said they are afraid for the punks to break the cars with stones.is the car more inportant than assiting the residentds of union farm?
the police should be patroling the trouble areas more frequenly and come when they are called not hours or days later.

The governor made some strong comments about crime, but unless we see some real action soon, those words , are well, just words. When convicted officer Marcel loor was stopping busses and doing random road check, a lot of people say no, no you are not humane. Now look what we facing. You got gypsies picking up all the illegals and droping them where ever, even talking on their cell phones, no respect what so ever. If you overstayed your welcome, you ARE illegal on the island, no if and buts.
You got people coming on the island and getting security jobs the next day, and then commiting crimes. Ask around and see how many businesses and homes where broken into.
The guy Pascal on the French side was right when he went and duck tape those thieves that stole his stuff.
I say start the controls now, don't wait until March, go into all the areas and flush out all these criminals and if the thief is from SXM lock him up too. Further more I want to see them do some hard labour in the sun, like mopping all the raw sewage that run donw in the streets

The police need to be more aggressive with these type of crime my home was broken into on new years eve night (well 3 house) we got a lead to the criminals and call in the police and they never came, "they need prove" its a shame how they handle thing, and yes i am a foreigner so we too getting stolen from, abuse, rape, beaten, and to put on top of it discriminated by locals i have live on this little Island i call home for 14 years and the only crime i committed was loving this Island enough to go through good and bad time with the people we call local. I know my home was hit by locals because no foreigner is going to see resident permits, Dutch passport and leave it during their raid, i have work very hard to up bring my kids and hunt them down when they are out and i don't know where they are, peers call my sons a "MAMA BOY" but i don't care and i told them not to mind them, i instill in them that they are foreigner living on others island so they will always have bad to say they just have to live in a way that people respect them. smilies/angry.gif

Put the Marine/Army to good use. It's okay to bring them in during the huricane season, but we have a huricane now by the name of crime, send them in to clean up the debris. Bring back Loor at least during his time criminals were afraid to venture about. I believe we cut off our nose to spite our face. The police need to carry around cameras when on patrol, criminals are afraid of cameras/videos. Henson, food for thought!

SXM yardi, I appluad your postion with your children. If more people would do the same, both local and foreighn, we would have a better St.Maarten. I remember when people came form the other island years ago, they found a person from St.Maarten to find out more about how St.Maartens use to carry themselves, in a respectable manner,
Today, everyone show up saying they are on vacation and forget that their ticket says 60 or 90 days stay.
Proud St.Maartener's are not likely, I say likely, to discriminate, because there are always ignorant folks amoung us.
If you contribute to SXM, hold your head high and walk tall, because only you know how it feels to be in your position.

The Goverment have too make better plans for the younger generation too travel too Holland and start projects with studying and working ,
It seems they only way out for the jouths , they got too invest in the youth with lower education and let them build the Island up.
Everytime the make a Building project ,they call in workers from Abroad too work , and the poor youths dont even get a chace too build up they own Island , we can build houses fix cars, and customers friendly no body can do it better than us soo the Govement got too consentrate on sending youths with no way out too hollland and hook them up with jobs , In Holland there is so much work too get started. smilies/angry.gif
