According to news reports and Facebook postings, Joaquim Jamal Richards was last seen on October 20th 2011. According to the reports, Richards left his home leaving behind his personal belongings. SMN News learnt that Interpol is now involved in the search for the missing young man.

I pray to God he is found alive. We know how SXM has become.
Why a public report only now? 17 days later?

  • Hold up one minute!!!!!

    @ "serious times"

From your comment I gather that you believe that he is missing in SXM. If indeed that is what you think, he is not.

He is residing in Holland (Groningen) and is missing there.

My prayers are with the family. May he be found and returned safely.

Groningen is my hometown. 190000 residents. If he doesn't want to be found, he won't. Not even to mention that he could have left town.

Let's just hope that's just it: he doesn't want to be found.

Much strength to the family and I hope for a safe return.

This is a sober time for any parent who has a child studying away from home. May the Lord strengthen these parents and may the community be kind regardless at such a time as this.

I.want to say, first of all to "rich". You are in educated of you think that a person is taking medication because they were on drugs.. you don't substitute one drug with a next. That's just dumb. Second if all if the paper says that he had a medical condition ,that in no way implies that he was doing drugs. Being on drugs is not in any way the same has having a medical condition.

To the one that posted that its good that it happend to the mother. You should rake what you said into consideration. Like you said what goes around comes around. It'd gonna come right back ay you and bite you in the a**. Have a little more consideration for others. If you gave nothing to say. Keep it to yourself. That's one lesson you should DEFINITELY learn!

I pray each night for all our teenagers and young adults who gone away to a far country in seeking to further educate themselves. No matter they are rich, poor, black, white or whatever.
Remember, we are all God's children and in his eyes there is no distinction.

Our children leave in a time when the cold is about to set in.
This is something they may have never experience before.
After a few weeks of being away from home, many times the reality sets in that they are far away from home and on their own to try and coomplete what they have gone to accomplish.

For many this is hard. Especially when they start missing the comfort of home and family.
We have to teach our children from young that their is always one person who is always there for them and with them. That they can trust in and talk to whenever they feel need someone to talk to.
He will always listen and believe me, when you are through taliking to him, you feel good and at peace. This person is God.
He will always be there for you. So trust in Him and know you are never alone.

Why I am saying this, because when we do not have anyone to turn to or trust frustration and desperation sets in.(Often times even depression). Many times this is when we seek company. We will be hapy to have some company, not taking into account what kind of company we are in.

Many times it results into bad company. Now. I am not saying that you cannot find good company, but when you are lonely you take what comes.

Our children endure many hard time when they are away from home and that is why we have to instill God in them. And this we do at a very early age.

What this has to do with the poor boy gone missing, I guess not very much for most of us. But it is a lesson we parents have to prepare our children for.

God be with this young man wherever he may be and may he come home soon.

I wish the parents and family much strenght and faith.

Some people will have bad experiences with others and they will blog what they feel. Everything can never be all rosy and dandy, so hold on tight for the rough road ahead. Caring mothers know what Angela is going through. NOT knowing where your child is, is a mother's worse nightmare.

I DON'T FEEL THIS IS THE TIME TO ATTACK PEOPLE

THERE IS A TERRIBLE SICKNESS IN ST.MAARTEN, THAT WHEN PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS, THE SUCKERS, AND LEECHES, ARE ALWAYS THERE, AND THEY KNOW THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT EVERYBODY, BUT WON'T WRITE NOTHING ABOUT THEIR SELF, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T EVEN FIND THE LODGING IT SO BAD.

ANGIE, AND FRANKIE, WE ARE ALL PRAYING THAT
EVERYTHING ENDS WELL, AND HE IS SOON BACK.

CONTINUE TO PRAY, GOD IS NOT A SELECTIVE GOD, HE HEARS AND LISTENS ATTENTIVELY TO EVERY PRAYER.

IN THE END ONLY GOD KNOWS.

Once again they posted on another website he was missing on the 28th of october. On another website they said he is missing on the 20th. Uhmm nobody seeing something here? They even say he was on medication uhmmm ok? So he on medication on what? Not for a sickness because he was attending to school, So that medication has to be psycholoic problems or so. And if he has psyco problems why was he attending to school. He can hurt him self and other ppl. And they also said he was at home and he escape uhmmm.....WTF IF HE HAD PYSCHO PROBLEMS WHY WAS'NT HE AT A INSTUITION? OR SOMETHING? WHY WAS'NT THERE ANYBODY LOOKING AFTER HIM. This is what i conclude he wasnt pyscho because if he was then he wouldnt be attending to school. So this is my view of point he was on some other type of drugs. AND I MEAN SOME OTHER TYPE OF DRUGS THE ILLEGAL STUFF! REAL TALK! THIS STORY TO FISHY! I SEE THE CRACK IN IT. THEY CAN FOOL UALL WITH THAT STORY NOT ME!

@ People listen....Haven't you heard the proverb..."Every dog has his Saturday". Please be kind and stop airing out on the mother this is not the time same it for another day.

Regardless, what the parents did or did not do it is not the issue here. We are talking about a missing child. I am a parent with a child studying abroad and I feel their pain, stress and agony wether this child is hidden out or dead as parents they would like to know so their hearst can be at ease. We all must stop bashing people in their time of grief.

God is good and with prayers I hope they will find him.

@ "Common". (and others who think like him/her).

Have you ever heard of illnesses such as: "Asthma", "Diabetes", "Epilepsy", "Bronchitist", "Lupus" etc. etc. They all are medical conditions that require (mostly) long time (life time) treatment with medication and if the person does not have their medication with them .... at all times .... they (medical conditions) can result in death.

By using their medication regularly, patients can live a long and normal life (also attend school/work) and others might not even know that they suffer from any of these conditions. So could it be that the young man left home without his "Ventolin" (or other asthma medication), solupred, Insuline etc. etc.??????

Please do not be so narrow minded. You obviously have access to a computer, T.V., and books. Use them to gain knowledge and not just look at them or use them ONLY for intertainment. You definitely need to broaden your (mental) horizon .... OR .... are YOU a drug user and therefore ONLY know of crack cocaine, weed or Coke (and I don't mean coca cola ;-), etc. etc.)

You are obviously a person who rejoices when others suffer.

IF you are a parent you should sympathize with these parents who are suffering tremendously at this time. If you are a young person you should thank God that you are not suffering from any medical condition, other than being the drug addict YOU seem to be and ill natured.

Use your "common" sense. Would they (especially the Police/Interpol) be worried that he left home without his Crack or weed????? Please don't make yourself look like a total idiot.

CAN ANYONE UPDATE US IF THEY HAVE HAD ANY
    BETTER NEWS.

I TRIED CALLING HIS MOM BUT NO ANSWER.

ANGIE, AND FRANKY, BE STRONG, AND PRAY,

I AM JUST HOPING HE FOUND A BEAUTIFUL GIRL AND LEFT FOR A WHILE, AND WILL SHOW UP MARRIED, AND SAY HERE I AM.

KIDS NOW A DAYS, DO SILLY LITTLE THINGS, BECAUSE I KNOW I HAVE A SON THAT WOULD DO THAT TO ME
AND THINK IT IS A BIG JOKE.
    AND SAY: GOT YA.

  • Wow!
    avatar

Wow1 Double Wow that at a time like this we can stop and ridicule a person like that. If she deserves something leave it between God and herself. It is clearly none of our business. We should only see someone in pain and pray even it is silently for them. the golden rule is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He also say forgive one another as well as he who is without sin cast the first stone. therefore, i guess those of you who are casting stones are without sins. LEAVE THE LADY ALONE.
To Mrs. Richards, I hope and pray that you will find comfort in your belief and strength in God. You know where to meet him and at what time. do not let anyone deter you from the comfort that will bring. All the best and I pray he is safe.

There is a real malady right now in St. Maarten. Hate, envy and rejoicing in people's downfall. When people can't find something TERRIBLE about a person they make it up and spread it. Maybe these blogs aren't a good idea after all. They are spreading more negativity than positivity on an island that is already in so much chaos.

WE SHOULD BE MAKING A NOVENA OF PRAYERS FOR THE YOUTH OF THIS ISLAND, AND FOR ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE.

HAVE COURAGE AND STRENGTH ANGIE AND FRANKY
AND LEAVE PRAYER BE YOUR GUIDE.
