PUBLIC NOTICE: Road Closure in connection with opening of Parliament 2012-2013.

Philipsburg:--- In connection with the ceremony for the opening of the Parliamentary year 2012-2013, which will take place in Philipsburg on Tuesday September 11th, 2012 the following roads will be closed namely: Voges street, Emmaplein, Back street, School steeg, Front street, Gevangenis steeg, Cannegieter street, D.C. Steeg, Wilhelmina straat, Peterson Street, and E. Camille Richardson street.

These streets will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic as of 5:30am on that date. The public is urged to pay close attention to these traffic measures.

    Well, if they going to close off all those important and regularly used streets in town, then they might as well close all the shops and especially the government building and let the people stay home. This is unnecessary inconveniencing of the people and more waste of the tax payer's money. For the tourists’ sake, let's hope there's no ship in town on Tuesday, or they'll get stuck with no taxi to bring them in or take them out of town.
    There's absolutely no need to have such elaborate ceremonies every year! Learn to be conservative regarding the spending of money.
