While surveying the rally course in Ste Madeleine, three members of the Trinidad and Tobago Rally Club yesterday stumbled upon a body at the side of the track.
Police identified him as Arthur Banier, 58-years-old and born in Gasparillo, from his ID cards that were on the body.
Banier's body bore marks of violence, police officers said. There were marks on his neck and also a cut at the back of his left heel.
The public's assistance is needed to obtain more information on Banier, officers said. He was described as five feet, two inches tall and of Indian descent. He was wearing a long, khaki pants and a multi-coloured shirt when the body was found around 11 a.m. yesterday on Cedar Hill Estate off the M1 Ring Road in Ste Madeleine. One side of his pair of brown slippers was found a short distance away.
Sergeant Sean Dilpaul of the Southern Division Homicide and Corporal Sookhoo of the Ste Madeleine police station continue investigations.
