Letter to the St. Maarten Government.

Once again we have a massive fish kill. This time it was so many that people are calling it a river of fish.
Do you realize how long this has been going on? When do you, our government, think you might be able to solve this problem and prevent it from happening again?
How many more years and how many more dead fish will it take?
We have spent years polluting our salt pond. We have a huge dump in the middle of the salt pond which I am sure is causing toxic run off into the pond.
I am no scientist but I know there are many issues causing these fish kills that keep happening.
It's much more complicated than low oxygen levels which is all we the public are ever told.
I also know there probably is no easy solution. A solution MUST be found though, and it MUST be made a priority of government.
I don't care who is in power, or who has been in power. Not one government we have ever had has dealt properly with this issue.
I don't know if you read Facebook but the comments and pictures there tell a tragic story.
People are horrified and sick of this still happening.
What a great picture this presents when we try to advertise ourselves as a tropical paradise!
Tropical paradise? With thousands of dead fish lying in our waterways?
I guess dead fish can't vote because if they could, this problem would have been solved years ago.
