Just when we thought that things couldn't get any worse for our only tourism industry, the recent killings of the US couple in Cupe Coy has had much international publicity.
In my opinion, these crimes are committed due to the state of disrespect and lawlessness taking place in the presence of our very tourists, if I may really call them tourists. Many come here to settle in both countries of this island. Dutch St. Maarten and French Saint-Martin. The time has come for government and most of all the Justice Department to seriously address the following acts of disrespect for another man's land when they come here: Motor Vehicles - Eliminate those vehicles from all roads on the island that do not conform to the normal standards of operating on the roads such as:
The Vehicle's Road Worthiness
The Noise Pollution Produced
The Smog Pollution Produced
The Appearance Of The Vehicle
The Obstructions Caused By The Vehicle and last but not least of all, Fix And Create Roads with the appropriate facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, walkers and the handicapped. Where are the so-called environmentalists?
St. Maarten/Saint-Martin is in desperate need of a new image now, let's stop being so conceited and make that change happen for its user-friendliness and other benefits to all who live and come here. And one last thing, turn the much unnecessary causeway, so that it can be used, into the much wanted drag strip for the island. Problem solved!
