Raw Sewage Flowing into St. Joseph Primary School Alley and Compound --- Health Department not Assisting.

rawsewageinphilipsburg02042012Philipsburg:--- Students attending the St. Joseph Primary School and workers of the Chamber of Commerce were faced with another day of stench from raw sewage that was overflowing in the area on Monday. Workers of the school and Chamber of Commerce said that they filed several complaints at the Health Department asking that they intervene to stop the flow of constant raw sewage in the area but no one from the department seems to care. According to personnel of the St. Joseph Primary School, the raw sewage is overflowing from a building adjacent to the school. This building they said houses a lot of apartments and businesses.
On Monday, everyone walking through Back Street and in close proximity of the raw sewage had to be covering their noses. One woman told SMN News that the place is just stink and Government Inspectors seems to be sleeping when it comes to the sewage overflow on St. Maarten. "We are calling on the Minister of Health Cornelius De Weever to come over and see what the students and teachers of St. Joseph School have to endure. We know the Minister can't do everything by himself but he needs to make sure our children are safe."
