Health Minister Refused to Appoint Interim Director of SZV --- Wants to start over selection Process.

Philipsburg:--- The Minister of Health, Labour, and Social Affairs Cornelius de Weever dispatched a letter to the board of SZV last week informing them that he is not in favor of appointing the Acting Director of SZV Reginald Willemsberg as the Director of SZV. The Director's position became available last year when former Director Denis Richardson left to take up another position in the Netherlands. According to well placed sources, the board of SZV will be meeting on Monday February 4th, 2013 to deal with the letter the Minister sent them. The board of SVZ selected Willemsberg from among several candidates that applied for the position. SMN News learnt that there were two candidates from St. Maarten that applied, one of them being former Minister of Health Maria Buncamper and the other was Acting Director Reginald Willemsberg, while there were at least four candidates from overseas who also applied for the vacant position. While the selection committee chose Willemsberg from the lot and sent their advice to the Minister of Health since last year, only last week he reacted by stating that he wants to restart the selection process to find someone that he believes is more capable for the position

SMN News learnt that the Minister told the board of SVZ that he does not believe that Willemsberg has the required knowledge to upgrade SZV to where he would like it to be in the next few years.

A source from SZV said Willemsberg had planned a party for his promotion which would have also included a farewell party for the former Director Denis Richardson all of which was cancelled abruptly. The source stated that the current government, especially the Democratic Party wants to appoint the ousted Minister of Health and in order to do so they need to restart the selection process.
