SHTA assists Milton Peters College.

shtadonatestompc04022013The St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) recently assisted the VSBO-TKL section of Milton Peters College (MPC) in covering the costs of students' transportation for a series of environmental education excursions. Milton Peter College (MPC) Teacher Ms. Diana Atmopawiro accepted the check from SHTA board member Rueben J. Thompson. Ms. Atmopawiro explained that the funds would allow for the transportation of some 100 VSBO-TKL1 students to the Landfill in Philipsburg and the Waste Sorting Facilities (Déchèterie) in Galis Bay French St. Martin where students would learn about the island's waste treatment services. Thompson noted that the SHTA was pleased to be able to support the Milton Peters College's environmental education excursions as the Association believes it is becoming increasingly important to raise awareness about the environmental challenges St. Maarten faces.
