After being removed from the wreck, the passenger was also treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for medical treatment. The investigation done by the Police Traffic Department and statements from witnesses indicate thus far that driving at high speed and losing control of the vehicle was the cause of this accident. The victims with initials D.R.P. and S.Q.V. are both French nationals visiting the island. Later in the early morning hours, the Traffic Department learnt from the medical center that the driver of the car died as a result of the injuries he sustained.
