Sucker Garden:--- Retired Inspector of Police Etienne Meyers died early Thursday morning at the age of 89 in his sleep. Meyers was ailing for quite some time now and he was being cared for by his children, mostly his son Etienne "Toochie" Meyers. According to the Meyers children, one of his daughters who recently came from the USA to spend some time with her father found him dead in his bed around 6am on February 14th, 2013.
Etienne Meyers served the Police Force of the former Netherlands Antilles on St. Eustatius as a major and he also served on St. Maarten until he retired.
Etienne Meyers was married on February 14th, 1946 to his late wife, a former Minister of the Methodist Church Eulalie Meyers who passed away on March 25th, 2011. On the day of his passing, the late Etienne Meyers would have been celebrating his 67th wedding anniversary.
He leaves to mourn eight children, Etienne Toochie Meyers, Charles Meyers, Frankie Meyers, Gwen Meyers, Joyce Meyers, Merlie Meyers, Jackie Meyers, and Harold Meyers. Also mourning the loss of the retired Inspector are his grandchildren, great grand children, in laws, and several other close relatives.
