Philipsburg:--- Police with the help of the Judge of instruction searched the Simpson Bay holding cells in search of the weapon that was used to stab Andrew Davis early Sunday morning. Davis is one of the eight persons that were convicted last year in the Vesuvius investigation where a number of persons in the community were killed.
Davis was sentenced to nine years in prison and he was expected to be heard as a witness sometime this month for the appeal hearing which is scheduled to take place in March 2013.
Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos said four persons that are being held at the Simpson Bay holding cells were arrested and questioned on Sunday. He said after statements were taken from the suspects they were taken back to the Simpson Bay outpost. Mos further explained that the police still have to question Davis about the incident and that will be done as soon as police are able to do so. Andrew Davis had to undergo an emergency operation on Sunday as he was severely injured by the five stab wounds he received.
When asked by SMN News if police recovered the weapon that was used to stab Davis, Mos said that the team of officers that conducted the search found several objects but he is not able to say whether or not the one used in the stabbing was found. SMN News asked Mos if any of the four detainees/suspects that were arrested and questioned confessed to the early morning stabbing, Mos responded by saying he could not divulge that information at this stage of the investigation.
