Central Committee of Parliament Meeting about Postal Services of St. Maarten Reconvenes on February 26.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Central Committee of Parliament will meet on February 26 as the meeting about recent developments concerning the Postal Services of St. Maarten (PSS) is reconvened.

The Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescot-Williams as shareholder representative is expected to be present along with representatives of the Supervisory Board.

The agenda point also includes the resignation of the Director of PSS.

The central committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm in the General Assembly Chamber of the House at Wilhelmina Straat #1 in Philipsburg.

The meeting was requested by Independent Members of Parliament (MP) Hon. Frans Richardson, Hon. MP Patrick Illidge, and MP Hon. Romain Laville.

A Central Committee meeting with the Minister of Justice Hon. Roland Duncan that was scheduled for February 21 was postponed on Thursday until further notice.

The two agenda points that were to be dealt with were crime fighting initiatives, crime statistics for 2012 as well as other relevant information; and an update regarding security and security companies in Sint Maarten.

The Central Committee meeting was requested by the United People's (UP) Party faction. The initial meeting was first held on January 25. MP Hon. Gracita Arrindell from the UP faction presented a letter to the President of Parliament on behalf of the UP Interim Faction Leader MP Hon. Sylvia Meyers requesting the postponement.

Members of the public are always welcome to be present in the General Assembly Chamber during public meetings to follow the parliamentary session scheduled for that particular day.
