Prime Minister Met with President of Collectivity and Prefet Chopin to discuss Cooperation Meetings.

swescotwilliams27022013Philipsburg/Marigot:--- Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams announced at the Council of Ministers' weekly press briefing on Wednesday that she was meeting with the President of the Collectivity of St. Martin Alain Richardson and Prefet Phillipe Chopin to discuss the way forward with the tripartite cooperation meetings.

Wescot Williams said that this meeting is for the parties to discuss how they will move forward with the cooperation meetings that are scheduled to take place between the French and Dutch side. One of the main purposes of the meetings is for the French side to share information with the Dutch side authorities on the competencies of the State (Prefecture) and the competencies of the Collectivity.

After the meeting held on Wednesday, parties will organize the governmental sessions which will be looking in-depth at the areas of cooperation and what must be done by both sides. Wescot Williams said that they will also be receiving reports from the departments and agencies that are already working together from both sides of the island.
