Philipsburg:--- Students attending the Methodist Agogic Center (MAC School) John A. Gumbs Campus in Betty's Estate have two days off as teachers and other persons try to clean up and repair the damages that were sustained to several of the classrooms over the weekend. Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson said in a police report that the police department was called early Monday morning and they were informed of the vandalism that took place at the school over the weekend. Henson said a police patrol visited the scene to conduct an investigation. When the patrol reached the scene, the Principal Mr. Hodge informed him that over the weekend unknown persons, probably youngsters, gained access to the school premises and caused a significant amount of damage to several classrooms. Of the sixteen classrooms at the John A. Gumbs campus, five had sustained damage and two were broken into. A search was conducted in the classrooms to determine the extent of the damage. Police found that the classrooms were severely damaged and three others were sprayed with a fire-extinguisher completely covering everything inside that classrooms with powder. As a result of the extensive damage to the classrooms and some of the materials inside the classrooms it was decided that these classrooms cannot be used for at least two days because of the amount of powder which can be hazardous to the students. A large live iguana was also thrown through one of the windows that were forced open to enter the classrooms. The Detective Department and Forensic Department will be conducting an in-depth investigation to find out who are responsible for this act. The Police Department is totally against this type of behavior and will be giving this investigation priority.
