GREAT BAY:--- On Friday morning at approximately 9:10am, the Police Central Dispatch received a call informing them that a well-known man by the name of "Richard Arrindell", who wanders around in the Philipsburg area took ill while standing on the Cyrus Wathey Square and fell into the sea. A witness stated that "Richard" went under water and did not surface. That is when the emergency services such as the Coast Guard, Sea Rescue, Ambulance Department, and Police Department were notified of the incident, who responded immediately. Members of the Coast Guard, Sea Rescue, and Police Department took part in the search for the victim however; the water was quite murky making it difficult to see the bottom. The search continued for quite some time and with assistance of divers from the "Blue Bubbles" dive shop, who volunteered their services, the victim was found a short distance from where he went under. A medical doctor came to the scene and pronounced the death of the victim. Family members of the victim were on the scene to identify the body. Deepest sympathy goes out to family and friends of the deceased on behalf of the police department.
