PHILIPSBURG:--- The colourful and informative HYPE school agendas are ready for the new 2013/2014 academic year. Produced by Voice Of Our Children (VOOC) Foundation and HYPE Design with the input of 20 dynamic students from the various high schools. The agendas are specifically tailored for the academic year and cover the months that coincide with the school year. The 192-page agendas feature a number of educational, informative, inspirational and fun articles that appeal to students as well as information on the various school vacation dates. Articles range from safe sex tips and information on study financing to bullying, the ills of social networking and features inspirational young persons, such as songstress Mischulaikah Richardson, who speaks in depth about how being abused as a young child and managing a debilitating medical condition helped shape the person she is today. Mischulaikah is hoping that her story can be an inspiration to others. A number of role models from each high school in St. Maarten, Saba and Statia are also featured in the full-colour, glossy publication. The cultural diversity of St. Maarten is depicted throughout the agenda with students from the various secondary schools dressed in cultural wear of some of the nationalities represented in St. Maarten. The pictures were taken at some of the country's national monuments and historical sites – an interesting mix of culture and history. The intention is for every high school student in St. Maarten, Saba and Statia to have their own copy of the agenda. The agendas can be obtained, for a contribution of NAf. 5 at Milton Peters College (MPC), Sundial School, St. Dominic High, both sections of St. Maarten Academy (Academic and PSVE), St. Maarten Vocational Training School, Charlotte Brookston Academy and Learning Unlimited (LU) Preparatory School.
