SIMPSON BAY:--- A joint operation took place in Simpson Bay in the vicinity of Peiking Supermarket on Wednesday afternoon. According to information reaching SMN News, members of KPSM and Customs and Immigration formed the team that conducted the operation. It is believed that persons residing in a house behind Peiking Supermarket are in possession of drugs and firearms.
SMN News learnt that a number of people that are residing on the island illegally were detained by immigration officers.
Prosecutor Dounia Benamaar confirmed that a joint operation took place in Simpson Bay Wednesday afternoon but she said she could not say what the officers found. Benammar said the police will send out a press release sometime on Thursday after the operation is completed.
