St. Maarteners prominent in leading Toastmasters District 81 to #7 in the world.

district81toastmasterstrio05092013CINCINNATI, Ohio:--- DTM Rolande Tobias, DTM Valerie Brazier & CC Raymond Romeo comprised 3 of the top Toastmasters on the District 81 Executive who made history by successfully leading the District to #7 out of 89 Districts worldwide for the 2012-2013 term. DTM Tobias led the District as District Governor, while DTM Valerie Brazier functioned as Lieutenant Governor Marketing and CC Raymond Romeo was District Treasurer.

During a press conference on Thursday September 5th at the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, the three Toastmasters leaders from St Maarten pointed out the achievements of Leaders from the territory of St Maarten. DTM Tobias is the first District Governor to head Toastmasters District 81 in its 10 year history. For the past nine years, the leadership was held by leaders from Barbados, Curacao & Jamaica only. As such, the achievements by Tobias along with DTM Brazier and CC Romeo are very significant for the island. "St Maarten has some of the best Toastmasters leaders in the Caribbean and the achievements by these 3 St Maarteners are testimony to the caliber of leaders on this island" DTM Tobias was quoted as saying.

District Governor Rolande Tobias guided the District to the 7th highest overall in the world out of 89 Districts worldwide.
This was made possible through great leadership, but also with the outstanding performances by the leadership Executive, including Lieutenant Governor Marketing Valerie Brazier & District Treasurer Raymond Romeo.
As LGM, DTM Valerie Brazier was responsible to ensure marketing initiatives were devised to attract new members, retain existing members and facilitate club growth and expansion of the District. Because of her determination, District 81 expanded from 17 to 20 territories as clubs were started on Antigua, Anguilla and Dominica. While the District has goals set for growth in three categories of 3%, 5% and 8%, LGM Valerie Brazier's achieved 12% growth in new clubs and 10% growth in member payments as a result of great marketing campaigns and initiatives.
District Treasurer Raymond Romeo brought the District to a new level of financial discipline while overseeing the Treasury. With a solid plan of approach, strict financial discipline and reporting, he was lauded for being amongst the Top 3 District Treasurers in the world when it came to financial accountable and reporting. As a result of his prudent attention to details and Toastmasters International financial accountability, the District ended the term with the highest surplus of dues collected in its 10 year history.

As a result of their performance, the District Trio, which included Rolande Tobias, Ewart Adams and Valerie Brazier received great recognition during the Hall of Fame ceremony at the 2013 Toastmasters Convention in Cincinnati Ohio. DTM Rolande Tobias was lauded for his outstanding leadership skills and for having guided the Team and District to such high prominence. DTM Valerie Brazier also received great accolades for her role in marketing the District and realizing growth in practically all areas.

The mission of the Toastmasters District is to help more men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking—vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
