POND ISLAND:--- Forty lucky students of the Prins Willem Alexander School in St. Peters have received backpacks filled with school supplies for the current school term – courtesy of TelEm Group and the Rotary Club of St. Maarten.
The backpacks and school supplies were requested for the school by the Rotary Club in keeping with the service club's current drive to distribute hundreds of backpacks to schoolchildren throughout St. Maarten during this academic term.
Rotary Club member and project coordinator, Angela Gordon, was present during the handing over ceremony to the school-children Tuesday, along with TelEm Group's Marketing Officer, Marelva Jones-Felix.
"We have focused a lot on the youth and schools this year, so when the Rotary Club asked for help in a way that would assist the youth and the school we were only too happy to help," said Marelva during the brief presentation to students.
The students, Principal and staff of Prins Willem Alexander school said they were most grateful for the donations, which will be put to good use. They also thanked both TelEm Group and the Rotary Club for their kind gesture.
