Rotaract Support Fire Victims.

rotaractsupportsfirevictims14012014PHILIPSBURG:--- The Rotaract Club of St. Maarten Sunrise, Rotaract Club of Saint Nord and Rotary/Rotaract Liaison Paula Gordon, attended a fundraising event for Mr. Ramon Perez a.k.a Dj Fabulous; a well-known Dj in the community whose home was completely destroyed on New Year's day 2014 due to a fire blast. The event was held at Vernon's Hangout Spot on Sunday 12th January 2014 organized by Dj Fabulous's sound team; Big and Serious Sound. The Rotaract members presented Dj Fabulous with a check and expressed gratitude to him for always being a great contributor to the club and only saw it fitting to extend the same support and assist him in his time of need as they try their utmost best to help him get back on his feet. Dj Fabulous was very thankful for the assistance that Rotaract has been giving him thus far and thank the members for coming out and supporting him on Sunday.

Rotaract is an international organization for young men and women between the age group of 18-30 who believe they can make a difference. Rotaract clubs provide an opportunity to young adults to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, address the physical and social needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.

The Rotaract Club has a mission in place for disasters. During the months of June to November, The Rotaract Club holds annual Hurricane Awareness Missions (HAM) where they collect nonperishable items that they in turn are donated to the Red Cross in the event of a fire or natural disaster on the island. According to past president of the Club; Elisia Lake, the H.A.M initiative has helped many families who have been affected by a fire and natural disasters over the years. President of the Club; Norissa Anatol stated that the community of St. Maarten can help their fellow citizens who have been affected by disasters by donating to the Rotaract Club. If you are interested in joining this dynamic club, you are welcome to attend their general meetings every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at Holland House Conference Room at 7pm.
