Prime Minister Wescot-Williams Highlights Solidarity and Resolve in Opening Remarks at West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference.

swescotwilliamsatwibfc15012014MAHO:--- The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams highlighted resolve and solidarity in her opening remarks at the 53rd annual West Indies Baptist Fellowship Conference 2014 held at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. The event, which featured delegates from around the Caribbean region, is an annual conference where Baptists congregations from across the region share ideas and fellowship.

After her introduction by Valerie Brazier, in which she highlighted the Prime Minister's contribution to the political and social development of St. Maarten the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of fellowship and resolve and its importance within the community: "I would like to welcome all here tonight and indeed highlight that if there is any place that is special enough to host this conference than it is definitely our lovely home of St. Maarten. However, having said that, I must also highlight that my mother, who will be celebrating her 93rd birthday was born on the island of Anguilla. I highlight this, as I would like to emphasize that if we have a strong foundation, a strong fellowship and if we are at once in solidarity with one another as well as with our savior we can overcome each obstacle, each hurdle that comes across our path.

"So in a very special way I would like to thank you for attending this event, I would like to thank the local churches and congregations for helping to organize this wonderful occasion, and I would like to encourage a fruitful discussion and information exchange in the days to come. Draw strength and support from your beliefs and from one another and may this country continue on the principles of the Christian Faith and move forward in solidarity," commented the Prime Minister.
