SIMPSON BAY:--- The Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM Airport) is now the recipient of the International Award for Leadership in Image & Quality, said Kalifa Hickinson, Corporate Communications Specialist at SXM.
Raul van Heyningen, Director of Air Traffic Services and C. Beresford, board member, received the award on behalf of SXM Airport, from the Global Trade Leaders' Leadership Club (GTLC).
"It was indeed an honor and privilege to be part of the Princess Juliana International Airport team in Madrid, to receive the prestigious award given to PJIAE for its leadership, image, and quality performance in business for the year 2013," said Beresford. (The international (IATA) designator code for PJIA is SXM.)
SXM is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary year and the trip to Spain was seized upon to promote its services and the island's tourism. According to Beresford, a video presentation was made by the SXM team that included "wide body aircrafts landing at our unique airport here on St. Maarten."
The SXM Airport was among 40 companies from different parts of the world that received a GTLC award. The award ceremony was held at the Melia Hotel in Madrid, Spain in December, 2013.
