On Saturday the 42nd Police Week of the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) was officially opened with a service at the Mount Fortune Seventh Day Adventist Church in the East End area of Anguilla. The service was well attended by dignitaries, RAPF and VKS personnel, as well as the Mount Fortune church congregation. In several speeches the important role of the police in the community was emphasized. The existing bond between Anguilla and Sint Maarten was also highlighted. After the service the RAPF and VKS paraded past the dignitaries in a short march past.

The VKS has been participating in the opening celebrations of the RAPF Police Week for quite a number of years. Besides the formal opening in the church there was more than ample time to strengthen the bond between both organizations. On Saturday a joint lunch was served at the police station in The Valley. Later that afternoon a drum band jam took place in The Valley. Participating in this jam around the block in The Valley were drum bands from the Pathfinders, the RAPF, the VKS and a youth organization. On Sunday RAPF and VKS held their friendly sports competition. Games of volleyball, basketball and dominoes were played until it was time to return to Sint Maarten.

During the farewell on behalf of the VKS the Acting Commander of the VKS, Capt. Paul Martens, presented a token of appreciation to RAPF Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rudolph Proctor. Both persons stressed the importance of the bond between RAPF and VKS which started in 2006 under the previous leadership of both organizations. Parties agreed this bond is very strong, will continue to be strengthened and will last for years to come. The RAPF will travel to Sint Maarten and join the VKS anniversary celebrations at the end of June.
