Prime Minister calls on Population to Join Cleanup Campaign to combat Mosquito Infestation.

mosquito29012014PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams called on all residents of St. Maarten to join the cleanup campaign that government has embarked upon to combat the mosquito infestation.

Wescot Williams made the call on Wednesday during the weekly Council of Ministers' press briefing. She asked residents to monitor the newspapers to see when the cleanup crew will be in their area. Wescot Williams also asked the residents of St. Maarten to join the cleanup crew by assisting to get rubbish and other materials that are not needed in their yards. The current cleanup campaign is to try to limit the mosquito infestation and combat the chikungunya virus that has been plaguing on St. Maarten.

Minister of Health and Labor Cornelius de Weever also made the same call as the Prime Minister by asking residents of St. Maarten to cooperate fully with the cleanup campaign.

Persons that are feeling sick by having high fever, joint and muscular pains, and rashes should check with their doctor to see if they picked up the chikungunya virus.
