Body of Robbery Suspect Released --- Prosecutor’s Office to make Statement on the investigation later this week.

michaelcarty29012014PHILIPSBURG:--- Chief Prosecutor Hans Wesslink confirmed to SMN News on Monday that the body of the robbery suspect Michael Carty who died while he was held under restraint at 162 Oyster Pond was released to his family for burial. Wesslink said that the Prosecutor's Office intends to make a statement later in the week regarding the three tourists that were in the home when Carty and two other persons tried to break into the home they are staying at. Wesslink said his office will state in their press release what will become of the tourists that are on the island vacationing.

According to information released by Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson last Tuesday, three suspects tried to break into the home while the tourists were at home. Henson said the tourists managed to hold on to one of the suspects now known as Michael Carty who died after putting up a strong fight with the persons that held on to him and subsequently tied him up.

The two other suspects Henson said threw stones at the tourists leaving them with bruises and other minor injuries before they escaped to the French side leaving the third suspect who died before police reached the scene.
