Tzu Chi says public can join its monthly visit to elderly.

tzuchivolunteersatsxmhome05022014EBENEZER:--- The St. Maarten Tzu Chi Foundation is inviting the public to join its volunteers to show love and care to the island's seniors at the St. Martin's Home each month.

Every month a group of volunteers visit the St. Martin's Home to pamper the elderly by giving them gentle massages, exercise with them, polish their nails and spend quality time talking to them and occasionally even performing for them or having karaoke sessions.

The visit is made on the last Sunday of each month and is part of Tzu Chi's goal to pay homage to those who have already given of themselves to the community in their younger years. On special occasions such as on Mother's Day and Father's Day; Tzu Chi gives gifts to the seniors in the Home. Volunteers also visit the Home on New Year's Day each year and deliver gifts and host an entertaining programme for the seniors.

This is a tradition that Tzu Chi has been engaging in for the past ten years.

Eight volunteers spent quality time with seniors during the last visit on Sunday, January 26. Volunteers took time to teach seniors the "Three NOs" sign language song. The song sends the message that there is no one in the world that one cannot love, trust and forgive.

The seniors were happy with the visit and enjoyed the time volunteers invested in them.

Persons who are interested in joining the monthly activity can contact Tzu Chi Commissioner Sandra Cheung at tel: (+1 721) 586-3019.
