sxmtoastmasterscot07022014PHILIPSBURG:--- SXM Toastmasters Executive officers have successfully completed the second round of club officers training. The training took place at the Training and Development Center (TDC) on Wednesday February 5th, 2014.
The objective of the training was to assist officers to better monitor and track their progress towards the Distinguished Club Program (DCP), to enhance their strategic planning capabilities and to share best practices. The four hours of training was very interactive and informative. Officers shared their successes and challenges and discussed tactical ways of overcoming the few hurdles faced. There was also quite son incidental learning that derived from the group activities. A power point presentation titled: 'How to be distinguished', was presented by the Area Governor for Area 24, Malcolm Jacques as a prelude to the training. Each participant gave an update on their personal goals and a timeframe in which the goals will be accomplished. A clear correlation between individual goals and that of the club was highlighted through a group activity.
The Distinguished Club Program and Club Success Plan helps clubs promote quality, ensure productive meetings, provide structure and guidance and increase the enthusiasm of the club. The Distinguished Club Program includes 10 goals that each club strives to achieve each year.
Every year, high-performing clubs are well recognized for their performance. There are three categories: Distinguished Club (5 of 10 goals), Select Distinguished Club (7of 10 goals) or President's Distinguished Club (9 of 10 goals).
The purpose of a Toastmasters club is to provide an environment in which members learn communication and leadership skills.
The clubs are demonstrating great potential in accomplishing their goals. Further emboldened through this training, the area Governor will like to encourage all to continue in their quest for excellence.
"In closing, I will like to thank all attendees who made the sacrifice to be present at the training I will also like to express my gratitude to the management of the Training and Development Center for the venue" stated Area Governor for Area 24, Malcolm Jacques.
