FRENCH QUARTER:--- French St. Martin recorded another murder Sunday night when someone shot a well known French Quarter man known as 2-Pac. The victim has been identified by persons at the scene as Rodrigue Bernard Cocks aka 2-Pac (30 years). Bystanders said when the SMUR reached the scene they did their best to revive the victim but he did not survive.
According to persons on the scene, at least four gunshots were fired. It is not clear at this time how many bullets hit Cocks but his body was seen on the sidewalk in front of Arnel Center wrapped in a body bag as undertakers took him away.
Cocks was no stranger to the Gendarmerie he was arrested several times for various crimes. Just last week, Cocks was arrested for attacking a taxi driver with a firearm. Cocks was with another man when he attacked the taxi driver in the vicinity of the Oyster Pond Border. Cocks spent one night in garde à vue and was released the next day pending further investigation.
Relatives and several bystanders were on the scene screaming as the victim's body was being removed from the scene where he was shot to death. Several gendarmes were on the scene and they blocked off the road as they processed the crime scene to search for the bullets that hit Cocks and the others that were fired. At the scene of the crime, Gendarmes were having a hard time getting information from bystanders as no one was willing to speak with them.
SMN News learned that Cocks (2-Pac) was shot by two persons riding a scooter. The source said one of the bullets hit Cocks at the back of his head and killed him almost instantly. At the time of the shooting 2-Pac was walking to his aunt's house.
SMN News reporter contacted Vice Prosecutor Flavien Noailles for a comment on Monday and he said he will not make any statements at this time as the investigation is in its early stages.
