PHILIPSBURG:---- The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams joined some two hundred women from the Fit for Life Zumba Session at the Port de Plaisance Country Club the fight against cervical cancer on Sunday. Prime Minister Wescot-Williams stated that it was her privilege to be a part of the program and stressed a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and exercise, as crucially important: "I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to join in this worthy cause, uniting in an evening of music and movement and fitness to focus on such an important cause. I would like to congratulate Mrs. Hanna Lieuw Hie, Country Manager of RBC Royal Bank N.V., Ms. Keoma La. Hamer of the Kelaha Projects and Ms. Maribel Postiena of Bella's Fitness Coaching and all who made this initiative possible. It is so important that the women of St. Maarten remain conscious about the various health threats that they may face. We need to be very conscious of the fact that the sufferings of any woman are the sufferings of the community. While there are different treatments for cancer there are a few basic things that should be encouraged and promoted such as diet and exercise. It was great to be able to move for life and to assist in bringing cancer awareness," commented the Prime Minister.
All of the proceeds of the 'Move for Life' event will go towards the efforts of The Kelaha Projects to help and support cervical cancer awareness, treatment and guidance.
