Labor Inspectorate halts intended child exploitation by Tantra Nightclub.

outnaboutdjjustin22062014PHILIPSBURG:--- In Thursdays Herald's Out'n About an ad the size of a full page was placed by Tantra Nightclub owners to promote the live performance of the nine (9) yr. old DJ Ju5tin, a US citizen with Dominican roots suffering from muscular dystrophy, on Friday the 20th at 11:30 PM.
Having children (defined as under the age of 15) perform labor is a serious violation. It is against international and local laws and regulations. The local Labor law (AB 2013 GT no. 356) art. 4, 5 and 18 prohibits any child labor up to the age of twelve and is very clear on this. Between 12 and 15 yrs. of age certain labor may be performed under specified conditions (art. 19). From the age of 15 to 18, labor is permitted with the exception of labor during night hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). Under all circumstances all the other conditions and rules as prescribed by the articles of the Labor law have to be adhered to.
The Labor Inspectorate visited the owner of Tantra on Thursday and warned him against the intended performance. Due to health concerns, DJ Ju5tin didn't make it to SXM.
Any business violating these regulations will be fined and prosecuted.
