PHILIPSBURG:--- What was once a rumor for almost two years has now been confirmed to SMN News. It's been almost two years now it is rumored that Member of Parliament William Marlin who is also leader of the National Alliance was held up at gun-point inside one of parliament's restrooms by one of his own colleagues.
SMN News asked the leader of the National Alliance about this ordeal several times but each time he refused to comment. Marlin would not even entertain the conversation at the time it happened. But one thing was very obvious, soon after the attack Marlin became very silent in Parliament and most times did not deal with some of the decisions taken by government and Parliament. His actions led many of his own supporters to believe that he did not want to work or he did not care about the issues affecting the country. It is not even known if Marlin filed a complaint with the Landsrecherche.
Some of his own Members of Parliament who were elected on the National Alliance slate in 2010 constantly accused him, some of them chose to jump ship thinking that Marlin was not prepared to run the country.
Even up to this moment William Marlin will not speak about his experience in parliament's restroom and why he was held up at gun point and by whom.
However, another Member of Parliament and someone that witnessed a part of what took place told SMN News that an Independent Member of Parliament held Marlin up at gun point inside one of parliament's restrooms simply because Marlin refused to sign off on the Justice Park project that former Minister of Justice Roland Duncan was working on. From the onset Marlin made clear and again on Monday he mentioned it during his presentation in parliament that he was always very open about the box that the former Minister of Justice wanted to use as prison simply because the owner of the box was ordered by the court to demolish the top floor since it was constructed without a building permit. Marlin said government has to set the example and lead by example therefore he could not sign off on something that was not in accordance with the law.
Member of Parliament Romaine Laville made a very strong argument on Monday when the purchase of the Vorst property was being discussed in Parliament. Laville said that the young people in the various districts are waiting on politicians to go chase them for their votes because they are well prepared to do what they need to do now. He said politicians and those elected in 2010 promised to do so much for the people but so far nothing was done for them. He said he begged for monies to be made available for clean-up projects in the various districts. This he said would have provided jobs for the youths that are constantly on the blocks waiting for an opportunity to get work. Furthermore, Laville reminded Minister of VROMI Maurice Lake that MP Helmin Wiels did not know that he would have been assassinated, neither did the Minister of Finance of Curacao know that people were going to go to his house to try to assassinate him but all of that did happened. He warned that what happened in Curacao will happen on St. Maarten in the near future.
