When one looks at a list, and sees a person as the last on the list, is the thought of this it being a strategic move or is it due to the lack of confidence in the candidate?! It can be neither, let me give you one other option; it could be the case if the candidate has requested this!
Yes, my good people, I, Herbert "Prince" Martina, your #23 candidate on the National Alliance, requested the very last number.
My reason is simple, the challenge with finding one's candidate is becoming even greater with similar last names appearing on various list and even on the same party. It is now possible to be elected into office based on how many seats the party receives. Just a few years ago if your party won six seats and you were number seven and you pulled more votes than your fellow number six candidate, you would not be granted a seat. So now that this regulation is no longer applicable, it is not strategic to be placed as last on the list?!
When I was eighteen and had the opportunity to vote I could remember having a feeling of responsibility coloring in the circle. As a young man many feelings ran through me at once. I can remember perusing the ballet sheet and when I finally reached the party of my choice I looked at the #1 candidate, the #2 candidate and kept on looking, but up until today I can still remember the first two and the last persons on the list. They were easy to find!
I am honored, humbled and privileged to close off the list of the National Alliance with #23. Herbert Martina, "A man of the people for the people, working for you!"
