SHTA organizes Political Mixer for its Members.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA), the largest business representative on the island, has organized a Political Mixer for its members on August 14th 2014, at the Sonesta Great Bay Resort & Casino. Although a non-political organization, they believe that informed voters make better decisions. Therefore having the political parties present their views and opinions on key topics of interest to the business community will help those members be better prepared when casting their votes during the upcoming elections.

All six of the political parties have confirmed their attendance at this event where the Board of the SHTA will be posing 5 questions to each party's representative. These questions are relevant to the topics and positions that SHTA has presented to the various governments over the years, yet still remain important issues to be addressed in order to improve the economic and social conditions of the island. Each party has been able to prepare and select their representative to attend this event, based on the questions that were sent in advance. At the end of the debate, the floor will be opened for SHTA members to direct their questions to the various party representatives.

"We are expecting a very high turnout from our members at this important event as it will provide them vital insights into the political views of each party, enabling members to cast a more educated vote. This is a unique opportunity for the political candidates to address the concerns of the business community directly", said SHTA. Independent Radio and TV talk show host and two time nominee of the Crystal Pineapple Award for Outstanding Journalism, Wendell Moore, will be the moderator for the event, to keep everyone on time and to the point.
The event will only be accessible to members of the SHTA and registration in advance is required. The SHTA is dedicated to bringing quality to all aspects of life on St. Maarten by promoting sustainable economic development for its members in cooperation with the social partners and the creation of a fair marketplace.
