PHILIPSBURG:--- It is with some dismay that I take note of the remarks made by Michael Ferrier, former chairman of the Winair Ad-Hoc Committee, in response to questions posed to the Prime Minister, in her capacity of shareholder representative, regarding the airline company, Winair.
Considering the ongoing election campaign, the reaction by the now DP Party candidate comes as no surprise but will, in no way, discourage my person from carrying out my obligations as a member of parliament.
Mr. Ferrier's arrogant attempts at misdirection, by resorting to uncalled for name-calling will simply not work, this time around.
My questions have been addressed to the shareholder representative and I await responses from the shareholder representative.
Parliament has the responsibility to address concerns of vital national interest, even if there are those that would rather have the public remain oblivious of developments.
Within the framework of transparency, we should be able to address, debate, and discuss any and all developments relating to developments at Winair.
It is when undemocratic attempts are made to discourage open disclosure, that one should become even more alarmed.
It is exactly through the legally constituted arrangements of parliament posing questions to the shareholder of companies that misconceptions can be laid to rest, safeguarding the continued employment of persons.
And so, I, Janchi Leonard, do not give the word to candidate for public office, Michael Ferrier. I give the word to the shareholder representative!
In closing this: Conventional wisdom reminds us that one should always allow clowns to do what clowns do best, and that is to enjoy the show.
