Press Statement by Minister Ted Richardson on Continuity in Government.

PHILIPSBURG:--- In light of the latest Parliamentary elections and as it is customary, I would like to publicly state the following:

First of all I would like to congratulate all the parties and the individuals who took part of this election, and regardless of the end results, I wish them all wisdom and God speed.

It is also customary that in any transition period like this one, all present Minister become as "Caretakers" and have to deal with their present issues to ensure that Government is about continuity, transparency and assiduity in dealing with the people business. I am no different and I hereby make the public know that any and all issues that the public will know of in the coming days are issue that have been started since the beginning of the term.

As professional Minister, when I was called to take this task, a detailed Road Map was then put in place ad to date it is within that framework that my Cabinet and all the Departments under my responsibility, have been working. Several issues in that Road Map were tackled; others were initiated and are in the process of being moved forward and finalized. In these few days left in my term, there will not be any ad-hoc decisions that will be taken by me that were not initiated a sometime ago, and after assessments and consultations made by my Cabinet and all the relevant Departments. I have been conducting my term in a professional and business like manner and I will continue doing that to the last hour of my tenure.

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the members of my Cabinet, of all the various departments within my Ministry and the people of Sint Maarten, it has been an honor and pleasure working with you all.
